The Eau De Parfum (EDP) has been replaced by a new formulation in May 2011 (new edition created by Francois Demachy, who did quite a lot of the Dior scents, but interestingly did not do the popular J'Adore Eau de Parfum which I have).
I am undecided about the scent. It's classified as a Chypre Fruity, and Luca Turin's book Perfume The A-Z Guide describes it as a strawberry patchouli and rated it 3 stars out of 5. Can't say with certainty that I love it. But what if I wish to buy it next time? If I don't get it now, I will not be able to buy in future. Some of the department stores are still carrying the old stocks, but once it is sold out, it will no longer be manufatured and hence not available, since the new version will replace it. I am not keen to buy from discount stores, since many sell fakes or expired or diluted perfumes.

Unfortunately, the current design is not as nice, they now have a paper label stuck onto the glass. It seems that the scent is the same for both the 2005 and 2007 packaging, though some websites say that 2007 version was re-formulated from 2005 (both versions of the scent was created by Christine Nagel for Dior. Francois Demachy's version is the 2011 one).
I'm unhappy that they keep re-formulating their products, price goes up but quality seems to go down.
Here's a pic of the old and new versions. On the left, the 2007 packaging (again vastly different from the 2005 packaging). On the right, the latest incarnation of the scent - the 2011 version. You have to look very closely to spot the difference from the photos. The 2011 version's label is set inside the glass indent on the front of the bottle. Whereas the 2007 version's label is just pasted on.

Miss Dior Cherie was launched in 2005. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel."

Dior has some really nice ads and visuals for Miss Dior Cherie. I love how the different flankers / versions of the perfume sit prettily on the luscious flowers. This pic is of the earlier 2007 EDP and other flankers/variations of Miss Dior Cherie - e.g. L'eau.
I have not smelled the 2005 version, so can only comment on the 2007 version. I presume they are the same.

* The strawberry patchouli note is gone in the 2011 edition! Friend HW (J) says it smells orangey when we tested it in Robinsons Raffles City. The new version smells more sour and the stale cigarette smoke note is more apparent, making it smell more similar to Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum. Ugggh... the tobacco note... eeks... who would want to pay so much to smell like a lounge hostess?
* The older version is longer lasting than the 2011 version, which fades very quickly. Boo, it is a diluted badly rehashed version of the earlier.
* I'm not sure if I love the perfume, but if I were to purchase it, I would take the earlier version!

I did a blind test... and my guy friend said the new 2011 version smells like perspiration. (o_O)" Uhhhh... how did they make a perfume that gives off a sweaty smell?! What if I wear it and people think that I have not bathed in days? He smelled the two versions of Miss Dior Cherie and Coco Mademoiselle on scent strips, and he later said he did not like any of them. *hmmmph* Maybe he just doesn't have a sophisticated nose for perfumes.
Well I'm definitely not going to consider the new version. Why do perfumers keep changing the perfume? How can they call the new formulation an Eau de Parfum and yet the staying power is more like Eau de Toilette (but at an exorbitant price)? The older version is $95 for 30ml and $115 for 50ml. The new version is $120 for 50ml (I did not enquire about the price of the new 30ml bottle, it is likely $99 or $100).
Maybe I'll wait for the next Metro 20% discount that is likely to be in June, and then think about buying the older version. And it would likely be a 30ml bottle. Though the 50ml one would be more worth it. Hmmm shall consider carefully.
I like this ad for the 2007 version of Miss Dior Cherie. I'm not impressed by the 2011 ads with Natalie Portman.
